Making your first moves in Klondike Solitaire

Keep the active rule in mind. Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Select cards directly on the tableau and work through a full solo deal. The same rule applies on a phone and on a computer. A clear plan starts with the current position. Build down in alternating colours; kings fill empty columns. Valid ordered runs move together. The same rule applies on a phone and on a computer.

One deck; draw-one or draw-three stock; waste recycling. Free solo play, no wagering.

Practice with a purpose

For a calm first round, focus on one decision. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot. Use another round to revisit a decision.

An example before you play

A red 6 fits a black 7, not another red 7. Return to the explanation when a decision is unclear.

Watch out for this

Look at the complete hand before deciding. Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Return to the explanation when a decision is unclear.
